This is the place where you can personalize your profile!
But, how?
By moving, adding and personalizing widgets.
You can drag and drop to rearrange.
You can edit widgets to customize them.
The bottom has widgets you can add!
Some widgets you can only access when you get a premium membership.
Some widgets have options that are only available when you get a premium membership.
We've split the page into zones!
Certain widgets can only be added to certain zones.
"Why," you ask? Because we want profile pages to have freedom of customization, but also to have some consistency. This way, when anyone visits a deviant, they know they can always find the art in the top left, and personal info in the top right.
Don't forget, restraints can bring out the creativity in you!
Now go forth and astound us all with your devious profiles!
Just came back from the CTNX in california a couple of days ago. Met some amazingly talented people, got to hear many of my heroes in the animation industry speak, and I had the pleasure of subjecting every pair of professional eyes to my portfolio for critique.
I almost didn't go to the CTNX: Planned for six months preparing my portfolio, saving up for a hotel room and air fare, and taking off of work. Found out three days before I was about to leave that they cancelled my registration!!! Without the registration I couldn't enter any of the bigger portfolio reviews, any of the workshops, or meet with potential employers. I freaked out, called them a dozen times only to be told 'sorry' in by three different people.
With the encouragement of my friends, and a kick in the ass from my girlfriend I went. I had the best time of my life! I've had tons of practice stalking people with my portfolio while working freelance and trying to break into comic books so I shoved my work under the nose of everybody I met. Got some great advice and made some incredible contacts (and here I thought I couldn't network). I learned persistence, a positive attitude, and an open mind opens many doors.
I'll follow up with any new developments as I update my portfolio and contact studios (potential employers) and work to getting closer to working in animation.
I'm a Philadelphia based Character Designer and Cartoonist.
I started off as a comic book artist but I was constantly told my work was too 'cartoony' but everyone loved my characters and expressions.
Later I tried to my hand at graphic design to pay the bills but again I was told my work was too cartoony but still potential clients loved my characters.
A close friend recommended I try my hand at Character Design, to that my response being "You can do that for a living?!!!".
So here I am, trying to make a living at what I love.

Thank you so much! Just keep working at it. Saw your journal entry about your pencil work being better. Your probably more comfortable with pencil, you can physically feel out your drawing. Working digitally, the natural feel of pencil gets lost so you have to work that hand drawn feel back in.
I worked traditionally then slowly adapted to digital.
Your very welcome ^.^ Yeah.. Working since I was little with a pencil, and crayons, markers, ect. I doesn't come easy.. I think its been getting better since I started.. My first digital drawing was..bad. XD
Thanks alot! Its funny, I'm in Philly and I assumed every animation studio loved in Cali, NY, or Canada. Surprise! Here you guys are in Jersey. I've heard of you guys before and didn't realize you were on Deviant Art.
